Ancient, indigenous plant medicine is the KEY to unlocking your inner magic.

Do you feel like your life is constantly in conflict? Like you're surrounded by chaos, but there's just no way out? Honey, I hear you. It's time to unbind yourself from the societal constructs that keep you from being your truest and most powerful self.

It's time for some ancestral indigenous plant medicine. And it can be as simple as a cup of tea.

You're probably wondering: what exactly IS ancestral indigenous plant medicine, and how does it work? You've come to the right place. Indigenous plant medicine was passed down through generations, with each culture adding their own special touches to make their rituals unique and effective.

What makes this kind of ancestral medicine different from modern medicine is its holistic approach—it doesn't just treat symptoms; it treats you as a whole system. The idea is that when you feel better energetically + physically, you'll also feel better mentally and emotionally.

So what we're talking about here isn't just a cup of tea or lighting up some incense that smells nice and makes you feel warm inside—it's an opportunity to release yourself from the binds of society and reclaim your inner magic, so that nothing is holding you back from living out your best life!

To understand the role of ancestral indigenous plant medicine, it's helpful to know a little bit about where it comes from. Ancestral indigenous plant medicines are rooted in ancient spiritual practices that have been used by healers for thousands of years. They can take many forms—from ceremonial herbs to ritualistic practices like shamanic journeying—and are designed to help us connect with the deep and powerful energy of Mother Earth and our ancestors.

We’ve all had the experience of hearing a song on the radio and being transported to another time in our lives. For example, that song you heard in the car last week suddenly reminds you of your third-grade best friend who moved away or of a certain summer spent with your cousins. A certain smell can also open up forgotten memories and bring you back to a past moment in time. This happens because music and smell are closely linked to our limbic system, which is part of our brain that helps us remember past emotions and experiences. Plant medicine can access the same powerful memory banks.

The reason so many people are turning to these ancient methods now is because they're looking for ways to reconnect with their own magic. Over time, we've become disconnected from our bodies, our intuition, and our inner knowing—the things that make us truly powerful as human beings—and we're seeking new ways to come back into balance with ourselves and the world around us.

While much has been lost to time, it is not hard to imagine that some deep-seated impulse in us craves this same connection to our roots and ancestors. If we were to be able to speak with them face-to-face, what would they tell us? What would they ask? What stories would they tell? What advice might they offer? How do we honor them now?

To explore plant medicine as an avenue for ancestral contact, all you need is an open mind and an appreciation for what plants have given us throughout history as sacred gifts from nature. The first step would be researching which plants have traditionally been used by indigenous cultures around the world for healing purposes, then choosing one (or more) of these herbs to use in your practice at home. In order to make sure that you’re using safe methods when working with plant medicine, it’s important not only do research about which plants have traditionally been used by your indigenous ancestral cultures for healing purposes but also how they were used.

Get this- Sometimes the best guide can be right under your nose. Go outside and find a plant that resonates with you!

If you are also called to connect with your ancestors through the magic of plants, here are five simple steps to begin:

1. Call on your ancestors for guidance.
2. Create a list of all of your ancestors that you know by name or ethnic background. If you don’t know any names, make a list of any ethnic cultures you share heritage with, or do some research if you are interested in doing so.
3. Find out where they are from—what was their indigenous home? Where did they live? Was there a major migration that happened in your ancestry?
4. Research the plants that grow in that area, and feel drawn to follow up on the ones that call to you (or ask your ancestors!).
5. Learn about the properties of those plants: what systems do they support? What are their energetic qualities?

I know it may sometimes feel like you’re walking in darkness, but I am here to let you know that the ancestors are already with you. They helped create your path and your life. You don’t need a lot of money or magic implements to have this connection.  It’s already there. All you have to do is tap in.

  • I am sooo excited to begin this journey! My great-grandmother was a healer, but she didn’t live long enough to teach me anything. Unfortunately her children did not follow in her work and her knowledge was lost. I come from Celtic and Native American heritage, so I am stoked as to what my ancestors have for me!
