When used for smoke cleansing, the shell represents water, the burning herbs represent the fire + earth elements, and the smoke symbolizes air.
These shells are pretty large. On average, one measures about 5 inches in length and 4 inches in width. In order to protect the unpolished inner shell while smoke cleansing, add a generous layer of sand, salt or ash. This will also help conduct heat away from inner surface of the shell.

I'm just going to order another one & hope it makes it to Jamaica in time. I normally communicate with Jessica but my note in this order was from Bryan. THANK YOU for that Havana incense sample. United StatesThis shell is even more gorgeous than its sister. The colors are so unique and make this shell stand out so much more. It is about the same size as the White Polished Midae Shell, but it is much larger than the abalone shell included in the Starter Kit, if you have that to compare this to. It holds an entire smudge stick.
